𓇼 ⋆.˚ 𓆉 𓆝 𓆡⋆.˚ 𓇼 Sebastien Durand is a French-born composer, researcher and archivist based in Canary Islands (ES).
After growing up in North Africa and graduating in graphic art & computer animation in 2009,
he traveled in Europe working on movies then settled back in Montpellier in 2013; he spent the next 10 years co-founding
experimental music and sound-related projects: lo-fi recordings label, FM radio station, DIY societies, show organization as well as practicing design and print.
Since 2022, he resides in Tenerife where he collects thoughts, historical notes and sounds as a “long term residency”;
an archeo-sonic investigation project entitled “Chants of the Forgotten Stones: A Cartography of Unheard Guanche Rituals” to revisit the archipelago’s soundscape as a mere re-invention of the post-colonial lost acquaintance.
He also collaborates on the triptych multimedia performance & installation project “Exercitia Spiritualia Animae” with writer/video-artist Denise Padron Benitez.
Durand’s idea is to transform image and sounds to tell stories through analog electronic performance as an attempt to decolonize cultural artefacts.
